Contract Law

A well drafted contract can play an important role in protecting a client’s legal rights. It will serve to structure the parties' expectations and bring certainty and predictability to their relationship. I am experienced in identifying potential problem areas and draft contract provisions favorable to my clients. My role is especially important when a contract involves complex matters or substantial obligations between parties.

Oral/Written Agreements

An oral agreement or contract is a type of business agreement that is spoken, not memorialized in writing. Although it can be difficult to prove the terms of an oral contract in the event of a breach, this type of contract is legally binding.

Contractual Obligations

Contractual obligations are those duties that each party is legally responsible for in a contract agreement. In a contract, each party exchanges something of value, whether it is a product, service, money, etc. On both sides of the agreement, each party has various obligations in connection with this exchange.

Contracts of Employment

I have represented both employers and employees in work related situations.

A contract of employment is an agreement between an employer and employee showing all the conditions of work and is the basis of an employment relationship. If you have questions about whether you are being treated fairly - and legally - on the job, I can help. Such questions as being not hired because of your race, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, religion or disability; your employer promoted a less qualified person to fill a position you were promised; regularly required to work overtime without compensation; a leave of absence is needed but you're afraid this will jeopardize your job or eligibility for promotion; and whether you are entitled to unemployment compensation or severance pay.

Termination

Wrongful Termination is the termination of an employee for a purpose that is not accordance with federal or state employment laws. I can help determine illegal grounds for termination whether it's discrimination; firing someone for filing a health and safety complaint or charge of sexual harassment.
